Dear Mr Wayne Drash,

Thank you for spending time to read my letter since you are a really busy person. To start, my name is Dennis MS and i am a Bina Bangsa School student and i am very interested in your article entitled “Killing in the heartland; heartbreak in China”. This is regarding my opinion about it.

After reading the article, it brought me both sorrow and irritated of how a person would do such cruel things to another human being. I did some researched about this. The body of Tong Shao was found last September and already rotted. Her boyfriend were suspected to be the killer but he was found buying a one-way ticket to China from America where Tong studied. He fled away and yet never to be found.

I agree with what her father said. His daughter does not deserve such crime and it was really heartbreaking as in China has a one-child policy and Tong was one of them.

About your article, it was very agreeable and it was needed for the world to know about the tragedy of Tong’s accident. I hope people who were thinking about doing crimes will rethink and not do it.

Background Story of A Future Filmmaker

Andy Sigit had been staying up all night watching movies and behind the scenes of great movies. For the past few months, he had been trying to produce a movie. He was engaged by how producer’s and director’s creativity which was beyond measure. He is one of the top schools in Indonesia. His goals are to enter the top filming schools in the world then, direct a blockbuster movie in Hollywood or Bollywood and become a famous director like some of his favorite directors, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.

“I was trying to get involved with directing a movie was because i was inspired by the beauty of movies and it was fun,” he said. All of his friends, teachers and family were very supportive in his interests in film making. He recently was trying to make his new movie with the help of his friends to become his actors.

Besides his obsession of film making, he had a really health hobby not related to filming. He really love hiking and running. “It was to test my capabilities of reaching the impossible. I will keep on pushing myself to the limit,” he explained. He managed to hike Mt. Bromo in the age of 12. He also recently also got involved in a running event organized by Nike, Bajak Jakarta. It was a 10 km race and he was able to finish the race.

One unhealthy habit or addiction that he has is gambling. He is very boastful and always thought he would win every single game, but rather he loses a lot of money. A few days ago, he wanted to buy his filming gear but was unable to do it because he lost a poker game. It was very reckless of him. “I gamble for the fun of it,” he giggled.

He is now very popular in his school and some juniors looked up to him as a really good senior. He is almost finishing his first and new movie and everything is great. All will be accomplished by practice and learning from our mistakes.

Beneath The Surface

I woke up like the usual. Alone in a room which light nearly emitted it. Went to get the same old “Fred’s” coffee brew. As I was still walking unconsciously, my phone beeped. I did want to take it but its ringtone would kill me I wouldn’t. It was the government.

“Hello?” I asked the man.

“May I speak to Mr. Cole?” replied eagerly.

“You are speaking to him right now, to whom am speaking?”

The phone stay still and no sound at all. I thought he hung up on me so I wanted to end the call but I heard a different voice. It sounds familiar.

“Cole, Cole. Are you there?”

“Yes, is this Captain Jorge?”

“I need you to come immediately”

I knew that it was urgent. I rushed my bath and went straight to the government department. They were already expecting me. I was very confused in this crowd of leaders around the world. I asked them what is it about. They told me that I must go to space.

It was very necessary for the human race because we are currently lacking a lot of foods and other source of minerals. We need to find another habitat to live in because earth is dying. I wanted to reject the offer but it sounds very promising and its for the human race.

Not for long I went to space with my team of 5. Space was very eerie and fascinating. We were surrounded with darkness. Silent was the only description that matters most. We made a deal among us to never stay quiet unless something bad happens so that we won’t go crazy.

We went around the universe to find another habitat so that humanity may live but we were always find unwanted tragedy; floods, tsunami, volcanic eruption and much much more. The planets are extremely beautiful but dangerous. We were desperate and thought we were only wasting our time until we found another wrecked spacecraft.

The government never told us about them already sending another team. We searched out for any survivors but we weren’t able to find one. Grief was the only word to describe us and hope was lost in us.

Feeling anxious and mad about everything but we still flew around to find any signs of life after we knew it and we luckily pass another ship. We immediately went to the ship. It was silent. We could only find one man still in the sleeping capsule. We woke him up and let him rest first.

When he woke up, he was very grateful to find another human being. Suddenly, he went silent. We asked him what’s wrong. He told us that this mission was not to save the human race but to start over with the people in our teams.

We nearly broke down and decided to go home immediately and need some explanation before it was too late. As we flew with the greatest speed, Earth just exploded in front of our eyes. It was heart breaking and that time was the time when Judgement Day came.

The Finish Line

Around me was blanketed with many crowds. My legs were shaking uncontrollably. Side by side was my competition and I needed this win. I felt my power vanishing every second. A few more meters away to victory but I fell and wounded myself. All the crowds went silent. Gary was catching me and I did not come to lose so I stand to prove him I’m good and keep running. I keep getting closer and the last moment. I made it to the finish line and all I heard was the loudest cheer ever. My neck was a shiny golden pendant.

The Storm

In our world, we have a lot of great and wonderful things that are currently happening. In fact, we never have any problems at all.Except for some of us who are barely living a happy life. We have wealth but i felt something is just missing. We were always separated with the outside world after the war. I felt that having no problems at all is impossible.

My two closest friends are Edward and Tessa. Tessa is the girl that will care about us and she is the kindest girl in the entire universe. Ed will always cheer you up with jokes and make you burst into laughter. Today would probably be the worst day in our lives because we could hardly meet up again because we will be assigned to our jobs. As the ceremony begins, the elders would call our names and tell us what our job would be. I was the last to be called and i was very nervous but i am called the receiver of memory now.

Everyday, I would go to the edge of my world to do my work. It was very quiet and peaceful. I went into a small house where i should be and would find the previous receiver of memory. I would call him the Giver. He would pass all his memories that has been passed a few generations before. He would somehow grab my hand and i could see the beautiful earth. But it is not only about the great and beautiful earth, i saw something really horrible. They called it war. How could people do such things?

The next day when I met Tessa, i hold her hands and asked her if she feel anything.She said that she felt warm. I told her that it is called emotions. Now, I realised that our world is missing a beautiful thing called emotions. I asked the Giver what I could do to restore emotions in our world. He said that there may be a possible way to do this but he do not guarantee that it will work. He pulled a map and told me that I have to go beyond the boundary of memories.

I began my journey. I by stealing a police motorcycle. By the time I leave, I heard a pounding sound gradually increasing in noise. It was then I realised that the elders do not want me to go out. My first thought was them catching Tessa and this force me to go faster no matter what. Ed would also catch me because he was a pilot but I hope he knows what to do.

In the middle of my journey, I heard an approaching pilot so i ran as far as i could to prevent myself from getting caught. Ed came by really fast and I could not run anymore. My heart beat fast and I began hyperventilating. He caught me but instead he move me nearer and drop me to the water.

After all my friends had sacrificed for me, I got to be faster. When I could not help it anymore I fell into the soft, white snow. I thought I was dead. I woke up to a sledge. which the Giver showed me. I ride it down with the last hope and happiness until i reached the unreachable.

Overcoming The Impossible

There’s a boy named Shane. He is one of the students in the school who is really smart and does not really need anything at all. His life was like a smooth highway without any cars and could be where he wanted to be on time. His life is just so perfect. He is one of the students at school who will always get straight A*s in literally everything. His ego is really high and like to make fun on other people because of their low tests marks. There is nothing that could possibly make him disturbed or annoyed except for me.

I am just a normal student who really need to study hard day and night. I’m not a straight A student. Even though i studied really hard i just could not beat him in any tests but that does not stop me in trying. I always challenged him in a test and confidently saying that i could beat him because i really hate his personality and ego.

Then a few weeks later, our Physics teacher told us that we will have a test next week. I was really excited and pumped up to beat Shane. I studied hard from day and night, while he was just chilling around playing with video games and chatting. I just tried my best to beat him and i am already doing this all out, this is now or never.

A few days before, we got our Chemistry, Biology, English and Mathematics test. First, we got the Chemistry test and i lost from him. Then Biology, i lost again and again and again until the Mathematics test that i got below from him only one mark. It gave me hope for studying for tomorrow’s Physics test.

Days have passed and I’m still waiting for my teacher to hand out the test. Suddenly, my physics teacher announced that she already marked our paper and going to give it back. I was so excited until she told us who is the highest scorer for the test.

“The students who scored the highest marks were very unexpected. The highest scorer is Tasya…”

I was already very disappointed until my teacher mentioned my name.

“…and Dennis.”

I was elated and made a really loud scream of happiness and i was jumping around because after all my hard work of studying days and nights, i finally beat Shane. Now, i realised that nothing is impossible and i had overcome the impossible.

Overcoming The Impossible

A teenager named Shane was one of the top students in the International Grace School. He was a straight A* student on the school and was considered the smartest boy that had ever lived. He never really struggled for anything in his life, it was just like a smooth highway. Nothing bad has ever happened to him or no one have ever passed his smartness. Because of what God has given him, it did not make him a humble person instead, he always messes with people because elf their test scores and other things until one day it all has changed.

The room was quite empty except for apparatuses and a bed covered with white mattress on the concrete floor. The lowered him on the mattress and all he felt was pressure on his ankles and wrists and he could hear only one phrase, “get him ready”. he felt a needle pierced through my neck violently. He started to lose the feeling of his hands, legs and body. Constantly beginning to fall into deep sleep.

When he woke up, he saw his family surrounding him, all asleep and his parents talking to a doctor. He overheard what the doctor says,”he must take medication for the rest of his life. He must gradually come here to get treatment every week. i suggest don’t let him meet with his friends yet.” When he lift up his body, he said asked his mother what happened to him. His parents tried to explain to him and he just got what is currently mentioned an ‘incurable disease’ called the common cold. He panicked and really stressed out.

Many years later, he had started going back to school and miss a single treatment which cause him to be unable to breath normally and made him really sick. He tried to control it but eventually could not hold it anymore and passed out. He was carried to the ambulance.

He woke up back in the same old bed with white mattress and this time the doctor said that this is the end of his life. His parents was crying so badly. He thought the doctor was joking but his face looked seriously worried. He asked his parents if this was a test from God and he confesses about what he did at school and all those bad things and the last sentence he could ever said was,”Dad, Mom, I love you.”

The heart rate monitor emitted a continuous beep sound which make the doctors and his parents panicked. The doctor did everything and tried everything and just could not wake him up. They stopped trying and have a time of sorrow. All hope was lost until the very last minute Shane decided not to give up yet and make a weak but hopeful pulse. He decided to ask a few more years to God so that he could change his ignorant and a high ego life and God has given him a chance.

The doctor was very anxious and try again to bring him back to life. Until strangely his disease just suddenly disappeared from his body. They were very joyful. The doctor with curiosity asked him how he managed to stay alive and just make the disease suddenly disappears, Shane with happiness answer that it was blessings and miracles from God. A few years later, he managed to make up his mistakes and completed his promise to God. Shane has overcome the impossible.
